Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Pairwork (“Service”), operated by Arjunjit Bagri (“we”, “us”) from British Columbia, Canada. By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Pairwork. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
2. Your account
You sign in to Pairwork using your email address and a magic link. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in email secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to safeguard your account.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any law or regulation, including academic integrity policies of your institution;
- Infringe on the intellectual property rights or privacy of others;
- Upload, share, or store unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise harmful content;
- Disrupt or interfere with the Service, including by attempting to bypass security measures or rate limits;
- Scrape, copy, or resell the Service or its content;
- Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited communications;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, except where permitted by law.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, at our sole discretion, with or without notice.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you create or upload to Pairwork (project information, tasks, comments, citations, resource links, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, display, and process this content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you and the project members you invite.
You are responsible for the content you contribute. You represent that you have the rights to share it and that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable law.
5. Academic integrity
Pairwork is a coordination tool, not a substitute for academic honesty. You are solely responsible for complying with your institution’s policies on collaboration, citation, and plagiarism. Peer evaluation summaries we generate are based on activity data within the Service and are not certified or audited; they should be treated as a useful artifact, not as evidence of effort or truth.
6. Service availability
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We make no guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or that data will be preserved. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any feature at any time, with or without notice.
You are responsible for keeping your own backups of important content. We are not responsible for data loss arising from outages of our third-party providers (Supabase, Vercel, Resend, etc.) or from your own actions, including accidental deletion.
7. Pricing and free use
Pairwork is currently provided free of charge during a beta period. We reserve the right to introduce paid features or pricing in the future. If we do, we will provide reasonable notice before any changes take effect, and existing free-tier features will not retroactively become paid without notice.
8. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time by contacting support@getpair.work. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion, particularly if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way we consider harmful.
On termination, your access to the Service will end. We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate operational purposes.
9. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements or that any information obtained through the Service will be accurate or reliable.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will Pairwork or Arjunjit Bagri be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (i) your use or inability to use the Service; (ii) any unauthorized access to or alteration of your data; (iii) any conduct or content of any third party on the Service; or (iv) any other matter related to the Service.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed CAD $50, or the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, whichever is greater.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pairwork and Arjunjit Bagri from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, and applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts located in British Columbia, Canada.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If a change is significant, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, by email). Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
